Market of Choice
Another reason why I am looking forward to moving to Portland. This place looks like it will be great. I think it is great that there are several groceries stores like Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe's, and New Seasons Market along with others. It is great to have a variety of places from which to chose.

Here Be Monsters!
Here Be Monsters! is a novel written and illustrated by Alan Snow. LAIKA (the animation studio that made the movie Coraline) had considered an adaptation of the book for its next stop motion feature with Anthony Stacchi directing, but a project announcement has yet to be made.
I really enjoyed Coraline and with LAIKA possibly making a adaptation of this, I am really looking forward to this. I will have to read the novel.

I have recently delved back into learning the various constellations and where to find them. I can easily find Orion and Cassiopeia. I found out something of interest. The Big Dipper is not an actual constellation. Is is actually an asterism (a prominent pattern or group of stars, typically having a popular name but smaller than a constellation). The stars of the Big Dipper are the seven brightest stars of the constellation Ursa Major (The Great Bear).

XSLT Tryit Editor v1.0
On my voyage to learning XML, I have placed this link here. While you can format XML with CSS, W3C recommendsa using XSLT instead. XSLT ((eXtensible Stylesheet Language Transformations) is the recommended style sheet language of XML. Far more sophisticated than CSS, XSLT can be used to transform XML into HTML, before it is displayed by a browser.
With this page, you can test out XSLT/XML code. Go ahead and give it a try.

In continuing with the previous entry, the same person also gave us samples of wet cat food for the cats to try. The cats really enjoyed the one called On the Cat Wok which has chicken & beef in it. They will try the calamari, shrimp, & mussels version today which has a happy name of Marbella Paella. So I will see how that goes. Also here is a link to their website (the website for WeRu Va that is).

The Decade In Music: The Way We Listen Now
Jacob Ganz writes, that the shift from CD to MP3 is just the latest iteration in the evolution of formats. He goes on to say how the move from the 78 to the vinyl record allowed people to listen longer, how the cassette tape made music portable. and ultimately during the past decade, the MP3 file has yanked music free from physical formats entirely.
It is interesting because I can remember taping songs from the radio onto cassette tapes so that I can listen to them later on my portable Walkman. Now I listen to my music via my cellphone (I just save music onto my Memory Stick Micro and insert it into my phone). In a way, I miss my cassette, because the songs I had on it were arranged in a certain arbitrary order, but when I listened to those songs in that order, it sort of defined that moment in my life. I suppose I can create playlists, but eh... it just does not feel the same.

I need to subscribe to this page. There is one part where you learn the origins of various Japanese expressions such as the fact that arigo (which means thank you) was orignally Arigatashi which literally means difficult to exist. Then it came to be used to express appreciation for something rare or hard to find. It is all about educating yourself on how language gas evolved and perhaps even where language will be years from now.

What's the difference between hajimeru and hajimaru?
What's the difference between hajimeru and hajimaru? Well this page goes into detail about the difference. Japanese has many pairs of verbs where one verb takes an object and the other does not. In English, verbs like hajimeru which take an object are called transitive verbs, and verbs like hajimaru which do not take an object are called intransitive verbs. In Japanese these are called tadoushi and jidoushi respectively. This page also contains a list of more examples of these pairs. By using this site, I can be able to enrich my skills in learning Japanese. I do hope that you visit this page as well.

Wow...watching this short was really great. I really am inspired to live in a city where public transportation is really great. I am even inspired to make a change for public transportation where I live (Murfreesboro, TN). Murfreesboro has the Rover and it is really small operating from 6am-6pm on the weekdays, but there can be so much more done to make it more impressive. Have you driven down Memorial Blvd. in the afternoon? Wow! It is unbelievable. But I believe that public transportation can be a lot better in this city as it connects riders with neighboring cities of Smyrna, LaVergne, Lebanon, Franklin, Nashville, perhaps even Manchester.
